hope street is dedicated to the development of artists, artforms and arts in the community. This award-winning organisation has been central to the development of physical theatre, carnival arts, participatory arts, young people’s theatre, international arts and cross art form collaboration.
'Hoof!' - Spike Theatre and Rejects Revenge Many artists that trained here have established award-winning companies, e.g. Momentum, Spike Theatre, the Big Wow, Rejects Revenge and Ullaloom.
Our community engagement programmes aim to combat social exclusion and raise the standard and expectation of community arts. Ullaloom's 'Dracula'
In 2007, hope street set up the Small & Medium Arts Collective (SMAC), a network that comprises some 50 organisations in the city, and is also leading on the development of a Creation Centre for Liverpool.

Is there life after
'Capital of Culture'?


hope street's director, Peter Ward, recently returned from travelling Europe to research the impact that 'Capital of Culture' has had on the small to medium arts sector.

Dubrovnik


Peter visited Creation Centres with a view to developing a similar centre for Liverpool.


His research took him to Turkey, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Portugal, Poland, Hungary and France.

Peter's research is informing the Small & Medium Arts Collective (SMAC), which is currently looking at how it informs the Cultural Strategy for the city.
