The DVD project runs twice a year, usually during half term in the autumn and spring. This is a fun and interactive project that results in a high quality and professional piece of work that goes on to have a life of its own. We work with a wide variety of young people from all over the North West, bringing together different groups to collaborate on the project. The DVD project is a joint production between Dream Ticket, First Take Production and Healthy Arts. We start with a series of workshops to develop group skills, drama games, creative writing and storyboarding for the DVD. In our last project, we visited other clubs and groups to ask them how they felt about the issues we wanted to explore. We filmed their answers so that we could have a voxpops element to the DVD. During the half term week, we brought together the groups available and share the pieces we have been working on and rehearse them. Most groups liked the idea of writing and recording their own songs, so we provide a professional musician to assist them. They came up with some really great tunes! One group even decided to make their own music video. The film company First Take Productions joined us midweek and film the pieces. Filming can take a long time so we have in the past set up art and writing projects for the people who are not involved in the filming. We asked the young people to contribute to the work pack that will accompany the DVD. After the editing process, we have a premier where we gather the groups together to watch their work and thank them for being involved. Each young person involved receives a copy of the DVD to show off to their friends and families! Each DVD has a health theme and will be used with other groups of young people, in schools and youth groups to explore the issues raised. For your own copy of the DVD, contact Linda Meagor, Healthy Arts Co-ordinator on 0151 708 8007.
