Dusko Sibl catalogue
HOPE STREET PRESENTS DUSKO SIBL’S 2008 LIVERPOOL CAPITAL OF CULTURE EXHIBITIONS
"The human figure has been a lifelong preoccupation in my painting, connecting the physical with the eternal Faustian theme of good and evil. I try to express my thoughts and emotions within the human shape using bold and direct brush strokes, while colour corresponds with my mood at that moment."
Dusko Sibl 2008.
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Dusko Sibl has studied in Zagreb and London including the Royal College of Art. Since 1986 he has lived between Zagreb, London and Dubrovnik, where he has studios and has exhibited his work. He has created a series of new paintings specifically for this exhibition.

9th, 10th and 11th October 2008 Time “Time” (Dusko Sibl, Croatia; Yorgos Karamalegos (Momentum Physical Theatre), Greece; Robin Rice, Barry Han & Elinor Randle (Momentum Physical Theatre), UK)

A collision of physical theatre, visual art, electro funk music, film and projection. "Time" pushes the boundaries of multidisciplinary improvisational live art. Each artform will inspire the other to create a fusion of artistic expression in which no individual art form dominates. At each performance Sibl will create three or more paintings on canvas. His works will be inspired by the improvised movement and music. The video artist will create images and video that capture the movement and rhythm of all of the artforms. The process will produce a number of art works which will be exhibited in venues around the city.
