Pinocchio Continuing to provide the best children's theatre, Hope Street's collaboration with Zho Theatre Co. and Unity Theatre, brings you a unique retelling of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. Pinocchio is performed to over 7,500 young people. A special treat for children of 4 to 12 years and their families. Book seats now through the Unity Theatre. |

“Another Place” (Catherine Poher, France & Mike Kenny, UK) A presentation of a period of research and development of our site-specific performance for 2009. A mile-long sound installation will be created, using Anthony Gormley's Another Place as a performance backdrop. 200 performers will treat the audience to a broadcast sound installation, whilst being led along the promenade at Crosby beach by a chorus of female performers, ending in a visually and aurally stunning climax using music, film and performance. |

“Message From The Flight Path” (Carl Cochram, UK & John King, Canada) This project engages with a broad cross section of the population of Speke. The artists will facilitate the design of three or four models for a piece of public art, which can be seen by airborne passengers as they land or take off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. These designs will come from the facilitated work in the communities of Speke, and the winning design will be voted for by local people. |

Hope Street Festival
“Market of Optimism” (Ian Smith, Kal Ross, Andy Frizell, UK)
A deliriously uplifting interactive street-long experience designed to amuse, uplift and inspire. Suitable for all ages, shapes and persuasions. A wander-through the 'market of optimism' stretching the entire length of Hope Street. Punters will be awarded 100 'neuros' as they enter at either end of the street. They are free to spend these however they wish at the Market of Optimism. The whole experience promises to be a cacophonous hurly burly somewhere between the world of 'Oliver!' and Marrakech. |

“37” (Andrea Earl, UK & Enda O’Brien, Ireland)
A short film which deals with many aspects of mental health issues focusing particularly on the experiences of patients and staff within maximum security facilities. It will be realised by fictionalising and/or abstracting the anecdotal material gleaned from conversations with contributors and will encompass a strong element of surreal stop-motion photography to portray the “inner worlds” of our subjects. |

“Time” (Dusko Sibl, Croatia; Yorgos Karamelegos, Greece; Robin Rice, Barry Han & Elinor Randle, UK)
A collision of physical theatre, visual art, electro funk music, film and projection. pushes the boundaries of multidisciplinary improvisational live art. Each artform will inspire the other to create a fusion of artistic expression in which no individual art form dominates. At each performance Sibl will create three or more paintings on canvas. His works will be inspired by the improvised movement and music. The video artist will create images and video that captures the movement and rhythm of all of the artforms. The process will produce a number of art works which will be exhibited in venues around the city. |

Described by previous participants (including Hilary Westlake, John Fox, Mike Kenny) as ‘the most innovative artistic development programme in the UK’, the New Work Workshops will bring together established local, national and international artists to work on our 2009 artistic programme. All artists work for one week together to inform the others' projects. |
