UPSIDE DOWN, WRONG WAY ROUND
Turning 30 this year, the Unity Theatre has teamed up with Hope Street Ltd in creating an innovative and experimental art performance. The Unity Theatre is an undiscovered gem. Hidden in the cultural quarter, both organisations are collaborating to challenge the conventional form of theatre performance; the Unity will be transformed with performances using the entire complex’s space. By challenging the conventional, and showcasing new and dedicated performers, this is art at its best. Challenging, experimental and inspiring: exactly how theatre imbedded into the community should be. |

"WEALTH & HELL BEING" AT THE HOPE STREET FEAST
|
Commissioned by Culture Liverpool, this street theatre spectacle is the centre-piece of the Hope Street Feast and follows the side-splitting merriment and ridiculous antics witnessed at the "Market of Optimism" and "The Big Nosh". Attracting crowds of up to 40,000 people, this is a fun-filled day for all the family. "Wealth & Hell Being" is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Liverpool's theme of Health & Wellbeing. A hospital inhabited by expert physicians will cure all the ills of the audience. The hospital site will have a variety of amusing and interactive wards that will both be entertaining and challenge what they might see as health and well-being. Audience members will be cared for by characters such as the Flying Doctors, Night Nurse, Major Surgery and Nee Naa. "Wealth & Hell Being" follows the success of "Market of Optimism" and "The Big Nosh" which attracted audiences of 35,000 each year and were described thus by members of the public: “Fantastic… a great addition to the event; a great idea and really well executed” and "A wonderful mixture of fun, engagement culture and food and drink. I was smiling and laughing all the way up and down the street!" |
